Apparently Del Rey has been contracted to publish 35 (yes thirty-five) new Star Wars novels from now until 2013. There isn't a lot of info on them but one is going to be another set of 9 books called Fate of the Jedi which presumably takes places after LOTF. *groan* They'll be written by Aaron Allson, Troy Denning & newcomer Christine Golden. AND, now here's the kicker, they're all only going to be released in hardback. So instead of paying $7 for a book that is probably going to suck and be shelved for eternity, we'll be paying $27! *groans* Of course, I'll read them because I have to know what's going on and all even if I may not like it. Hey, who knows, it might not be as bad as LOTF or DN *busts out laughing* right?

Another one they've announced is Blood Oath which will be written by Elaine Cunningham who also wrote Dark Journey. I didn't find Dark Journey one of the more interesting books but it was alright I suppose though I wouldn't ever read it again. Little is known about Blood Oath yet but I think most people are expecting it to be another Jaina book.

So, 35 books over 5 years, that'd be about 7 a year. I wish I could be more excited about this but I can't help but worry about what they're going to screw up next. *fidgets*

Books being released that I want. In list form with links of course. Links go to Wiki pages for each book and most of them contain cover art. Yay.

Star Wars:

Star Wars: Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor - Dec 30, 2008. Lord Shadowspawn lolz

Star Wars: Millennium Falcon - Oct 21, 2008. I've just recently found out about this one. According to the Wiki entry, it takes place after Invincible and supposedly is about Han & Leia (and Allana) as they investigate the origins of the Millennium Falcon as sort of a distraction after the events of Invincible. It sounds interesting and another book about Han & Leia is certainly welcome though like with the other books in the LOTF era, I'm a bit wary of it. But Han, Leia & the Falcon. Yay!

Star Trek:

Star Trek - Destiny: Gods of Night - Sept 30th, 2008. First in a new crossover trilogy consisting of TNG, DS9 and the Titan books. I'm excited for these.

Star Trek - Destiny: Mere Mortals - Oct 28th, 2008. Second book in the Destiny series.

Star Trek - Destiny: Lost Souls - Nov 25th, 2008. Third book in the Destiny series.

Star Trek: A Singular Destiny - Feb 2009. Supposed to be a follow-up from the Destiny series.

Star Trek Titan: Over a Torrent Sea - TBA 2009. Fourth book in Titan series. Just found out about this one as well, didn't know they were doing another Titan book. Yay.

Star Trek - Myriad Universes: Echoes and Refractions - Aug 12th, 2008

These two have just been released recently, I just haven't gotten them yet:

Star Trek - Myriad Universes: Infinity's Prism - July 22nd, 2008

Star Trek - TNG: Greater than the Sum - July 29th, 2008

Doctor Who:

Doctor Who: Ghosts of India - Sept 2008. Tenth Doctor & Donna

Doctor Who: Shining Darkness - Sept 2008. Tenth Doctor & Donna

Doctor Who: The Doctor Trap - Sept 2008. Tenth Doctor & Donna

Doctor Who: Beautiful Chaos - Dec 2008. Tenth Doctor & Donna

Doctor Who: The Story of Martha - Dec 2008. Tenth Doctor & Martha

Doctor Who: The Eyeless - Dec 2008. Tenth Doctor. Presumably occurs post Journey's End

Doctor Who: The Judgement of the Judoon - April 2009. Tenth Doctor

Doctor Who: Prisoner of the Daleks - TBA 2009. Tenth Doctor

Doctor Who: The Slitheen Excursion - April 2009. Tenth Doctor

The last four are listed as Tenth Doctor books without a companion. Not sure on the time line for them though it appears probably post Journey's End. Of course there are other points that they could occur but there isn't much other info on them at this point. And I'm still wishing for a Ten II & Rose in Pete's World book or something. It's canon now, so let's have it! Imagine... they could do a whole series of adventures in the alt!world. That'd be fantastic :D

Also, unrelated to books but because I was thinking about it... North American Doctor Who Series 4 (including Time Crash & VOTD) DVD release date is Nov 18th, 2008. Yay! And Oct 7th, 2008 for The Sarah Jane Adventures. Yay!

Did I mention yay! for all of the above? Because, yay!

I've just learned of a new Star Wars (New Republic era) book coming out this fall called Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor. First off, the villain Lord Shadowspawn is supposed to be some kind of Imperial Warlord who wages a big battle against the New Republic at Mindor (hence the name) for control of the Inner Rim. I've never heard of him nor the Battle of Mindor before. It's supposedly mentioned in The Courtship of Princess Leia but I don't remember it though that doesn't mean anything. So, I'll likely be pulling out my copy of CoPL and going through it to find said mention. Besides, now that I've thought about CoPL again, I want to re-read some parts because they make me LOL (like Han Solo, the heroic Whuffa Grabber) so much hehe. I am kind of excited for another book set back in that time but on the other hand I'm a bit apprehensive because I really don't want another book that could possibly disrupt continuity or suggest other things about events that have taken place. It's being written by Matthew Stover, who wrote Traitor (blech) and that also makes me a bit wary though his novelization of ROTS was really good. I guess I can only wait and read it.

Here's the cover art for it )

Lost was back tonight I noticed (woot!) but I haven't had time to watch it yet and will probably do so over the weekend. Also, anyone else watching Survivor: Fans v. Favs? Geez, those girls are ruthless! They're playing a pretty cut-throat game but I don't see how it's going to work in anyone's favor screwing over the people who are going to have to vote for you to win in the end. Also, this site seems to be updated regularly with goodies about the new X-Files movie, but beware because spoilers are in the mist there! Not that I went looking for spoilers.. they just coincidently find me! All on their own! I keep saying that a lot, anyone believe me? *g*
