FRINGE HAS BEEN RENEWED!!!

THANK GOODNESS!! I CAN BARELY CONTAIN MYSELF RIGHT NOW, HENCE ALL THE SHOUTY. *ahem* Anyway, I stand by what I've said since season 2... if FRINGE had been on any other network it would have been axed by now but FOX (don't get me wrong, it's still FOX...) has stood by this brilliant and totally underrated show and supported it from the very beginning and for that I am SO thankful. And of course I'm thankful for the AWESOME fandom, I have never seen such a show of support like this for a series as I have for FRINGE and whatever we're all doing, it's working!

The news came from Joel Wyman's twitter tonight: "Fringe was picked up!!!! Thanks Fringedom!"

This from Jasika Nicole: "There is no doubt in my mind that our show owes the bulk of it's renewal to the thousands of fans around the world who have been consistently supportive and vocal for the continuation of our production. This news is a congratulations for cast, crew, and fans alike!"

Oh, it's like Christmas! How am I supposed to sleep tonight now?! Honestly!

Yep, FRINGE won Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show at the People's Choice Awards tonight!! I can't think of a show that deserves it more right now. FRINGE seems to get passed over on so many things and it's a show that even though the critics love it, the FOX network loves it (so they say) and it's fans love it, it gets snubbed by everyone else. A big round of applause for the stellar cast and crew, the FOX network for continuing to believe in it and of course, last but not least, the AWESOME fans that made this win at the PCA's possible. Fringe and Fringe fans ROCK!

This is why I love FRINGE and why I'm so glad it's on FOX. Love that they have a sense of humor about it. And yeah, I think FRINGE will thrive on Friday. It's that sort show and it's awesome. 'Nuff said.

So it seems FOX is moving Fringe to Friday nights in January, to the dreaded "death slot" time slot. FOX is notorious for sending shows to die on Friday nights and I won't lie, it really worries me, HOWEVER, it could actually be a good thing for it too. Fringe gets compared to the X-Files a lot so I'm going to make another comparison here - XF thrived in it's Friday night time slot, one of the few shows on FOX that did and I think Fringe could do the same. Fringe fans are a loyal bunch and will follow it wherever it goes so I really don't expect to see a drop in ratings, I'm hoping it being on a less competitive night will even boost it a bit. And that could be good for FOX since moving it could give a boost overall in it's low Friday night ratings. It'd be ironic if Fringe became the show that carried FOX's Friday nights.

I've often wondered if Fringe is a bit too unique, like XF did, it takes viewers to a new level and right now we are a nation of reality tv and procedural drama junkies. Nielsen gets it wrong sometimes and I think it's missed the mark with Fringe. It being on FOX and labeled as "sci-fi" doesn't help much either. Yeah, it's my favorite show on TV right now and all but it really is an intelligent and engaging show. Give it a chance people, you'll be glad you did!

A couple good articles for your perusing: How To Save Fringe @ TV Overmind & Olivia Dunham becomes a superhero @ io9.

I'm planning on re-watching last nights episode (WHICH TOTALLY ROCKED) sometime this weekend and write a review of it then. So much goodness, I can hardly stand it. Like I can hardly stand the two week wait we're in for now until the next quintessential episode of all episodes. Eeep!

Oddly enough, I really haven't felt like writing a review on this last episode. Not that I didn't enjoy it or anything, I just haven't felt the urge to sit down and write about it like I usually do. But I will make a few comments.

Under the cut for spoilers )

The Giants just won the World Series! More importantly, Fringe and Bones are back on Thursday!! Yeah, I might have been watching the MLB page for the score tonight. I don't think I've been this excited, well ever, about a World Series. YAY for TV Thursday! Binge night is back!
