Reason #211 to watch Fringe:

Peter & Olivia

Not only is it a 'ship that works but has been resolved in a respectable amount of time. No dragging it out for seemingly endless seasons where the expectation becomes little or no resolution. And it's more subtle, not overly angsty or frustrating. Of course, there might be some complications after what happened in the last few minutes of the finale but I'm confident that all will work out just fine.

So, onto a picspam! I've complied my top ten P/O moments in the form of a picspam.

This is a nice early in the series moment. Given what we knew of Peter at the time, it's not exactly in his character to go out of his way for someone else when it doesn't benefit him. Yet he does for Olivia. And he's charmingly sensitive about Olivia's issues with her birthday. This is the moment where I went "hmm." and thought this is a 'ship that could definitely work for me.

Such a fun and happy moment, I had to include it. They totally need more of these.

Despite being at the other end of this list, this is actually one of my all time favorite moments. Despite the very real threat of the bomb exploding and a deadly toxin being spread for miles and being skeptical about it in the first place, Peter returns to quietly stand by Olivia as she focuses on the lightbox. The obvious thing here is that Peter returned but it's when he returned that she was able to start making the lights go out. I didn't make all the connections the first time I watched it but on my re-watch I've discovered that most of Olivia's exceptional abilities tend to occur or be enhanced when Peter is around. Coincidence? I think not.

Olivia may not care why she was abducted and given a spinal tap but Peter (very matter-of-factly) does. I also like the not-so-subtle head turn by Walter. I'm pretty sure this is the point where he started wondering if Olivia would ever "call him dad" Lol.

I cheated a little and included two separate moments (from the same episode and directly related) together so I could have them both and still have another slot to use. This episode has many great parts in it but these two are my favorites. You can almost reach out and feel the growing trust between them. I love when Peter puts his hand on Olivia's back, it's such a simple yet intimate-like gesture because it really says that they're there for each other. This is also the point that solidified me as a P/O shipper.

Great scene when Olivia wakes up after returning from the alternate universe and Peter is so very relived that she's okay. I also love how she desperately asks for him first. I think we're going to find that they're connected in more ways that we think yet.

This is a big one because for once Olivia can't do anything in this situation. She's pretty much helpless at this point, there's no cure for the virus and now Peter's been infected. It's not very often that you see Olivia near panic but she holds it together and still gets the job done.

#03

The almost-kiss. Again, it's at this moment when Olivia admits to Peter her fear of failure and that she's scared that her ability finally presents itself. But it was still one of those 'curse the bee' moments. Kudos if you get that XF reference btw ;)

It was actually pretty hard to decide whether to have this one or the almost-kiss in the #2 slot. The almost-kiss is probably more deserving since it actually happened and this is from Walter's Brown Betty induced story time. But I just love this scene (and this whole episode) so much. It's a lovely, sweet scene and there's singing and later dancing. How could it not make #2?

Perhaps a cliche #1 moment but also the quintessential moment. The resolution, the kiss. I love the "you belong with me" line, it's so perfect in tune with Peter's conflict about not belonging in either universe. Aside from the obvious, this entire two-parter is chock full of meaning for these two. Olivia crossed universes for him (and you know I have a big soft spot for those who cross universes for the ones they care about ;)) and admitted her feelings for him. Peter's more open about his feelings so to have it from Olivia is especially poignant.

Now all Peter has to do is recognize alt!Olivia for who she really is EARLY ON, go save his Olivia and we all can return to our happy Fringe family that eats pancakes. Yeah, they're totally gonna save the world together.

Oh yeah, there's spoilers if you haven't watched the series yet.
