This being one of those times more of the latter. Recently I have been having connection issues that I thought to be cause of a faulty router. Today it finally annoyed me enough to actually test everything to see what the actual cause was. After finding out it wasn't the ports on the router or the cables etc.., I discovered the problem was with the network adapter in the PC. I checked it and it was only running 10Mbps and had limited connectivity off and on so I yanked it out and put a new shiny one in. I feel like such a dummy for overlooking the most obvious thing that should have been the first thing I checked. Anyway the bad adapter was a Netgear card, which is among several Netgear products that I have had that have either failed or had serious issues. I stopped buying anything by Netgear (only Linksys now) a couple years ago but must have overlooked that last card. All of my systems have been purged of their Netgear impurities and everything is running just as it should. pfft.
Well it seems the Chief got to step into Helo's shoes for awhile to stand up for something he believes was right. This seems to be a running theme lately, not that there's anything wrong with it. I liked that it was the Chief that voiced his opinion and that people listened to him. It makes you think a little about the conditions that workers in refineries and such endure day after day and how easily they could/would be overlooked. In an ideal world people would just do the jobs they could perform because it's the right thing to do. The entire fleet depends on them to keep the ships running but they can often be overlooked, kind of like out of sight out of mind. And the guy down there sweating for 16 hours a day isn't going to think about the fact that no matter how high or low you might be on the totem pole, everyone contributes to the overall goal of preservation of the human race. And with as many of the people that are left, there really is no reason why some can't be trained to help lessen the workload for everyone.
It was also an interesting bit of information about Baltar's background and his book. Regardless of the fact of where he came from, I still think everything he does is for himself, not anyone else. Though perhaps that's why he is so selfish in that aspect, growing up ashamed and hating his own life and striving to do everything possible to change it. Doesn't seem to be helping him much now though.
Oh and just how many jaws dropped 'round the world when Adama made his "you can stay in one of my beds" comment to Roslin? hehe :P
And I have this insane urge to eat an Almond Joy now :P
