stargater | DW: The Fires of Pompeii (Reply)

It was good, I liked it. And it looked good, I liked the set and effects. I really need to watch it again though (probably later tonight) because there were way too many things mentioned that has my mind spinning in a thousand different directions.

A few things that stick out that I think are going to be important: The mention of the Shadow Proclamation again. The Doctor's actual name - I've really wondered about this but have always figured it's something they're never going to tell us because it'd take away part of the mystery about who the Doctor is (sort of like why we won't ever figure out what Yoda is in Star Wars) though I'm wracking my brain thinking of 'name' references because I immediately thought of The Shakespeare Code where the Doctor said that names have power. I dunno, probably a far fetch here but it does have me curious. Mentions of Gallifrey and another planet disappearing/lost - lost due to some repercussion of the Time War? Or what if they're disappearing because the two parallel worlds are colliding, maybe the other one is sucking them through or something? The "she is returning" phrase - I really want to take this to mean Rose. The "something on your back" phrase - really the first thought I had about this was that something was going to happen to Donna (as in a target on your back) probably because I had read a possible spoiler about something happening to her at the end of the season. That was just my first thought, though I'm not so sure about it just yet but whatever 'it' is I think will come into play later. The "choice" that's going to be made - at first I thought it was referring to something that is going to happen (possibility with the finale) but then when the Doctor said to Donna about having to make the choice "Pompeii or the earth" I took it to mean that, I just wanted to mention it in case I'm wrong and have to reference it later.

I've been thinking about this season's catchphrase (even though they say there isn't one but I think there is) and for now I've narrowed it down to three things: The Shadow Proclamation - since it's been mentioned in both eps so far. Rose - because of her obvious appearance in the first ep and the fact that I'm taking "she is returning" to mean her too. And the disappearing/lost planets (present in both eps) which I suppose could relate to the Shadow Proclamation as well. I also have this feeling that Gallifrey and the Time War is going to be mentioned more and might also have something to do with this. There really are just too many things out there to try to piece them together right now.

black_raven_87 and I were discussing this very thing not long ago. Yes, it does still kind of annoy me, the heavenly light thing and all. I suppose if you were Caecilius (and family) and you were saved from a volcano that destroyed your entire city before your eyes by a couple of strangers in a blue box that's bigger on the inside than the outside, perhaps you'd think that too. Still though :P It was meant for humor but they do lay it on pretty heavy sometimes.

Some random things: I think we're going to see a lot of bickering Donna & Doctor but that's alright because it kind of amuses me. Though I can see myself getting a bit annoyed if they disagree and argue about everything all the time. The Pyroviles sort of remind me of the Fire Elementals from WoW. See how MMO's can rot your brain? ;P And I loved the water gun, it made me LOL.

Next week: Planet of the Ood! I've been looking forward to this one since I heard of it's title because I really liked the Ood and am quite curious about them.

By the way, I've stopped reading spoilers/speculation/reactions (unless it's someone on my flist) because there's just too many possibilities and sometimes I get annoyed with some of the theories about things. It's the reason I try to avoid it for all my shows.
