I have to say that I was caught off guard on this one and I'm still a bit shocked. At first when I read this, I thought what a bad April Fool's Day joke this is and then I realized it's August and not April. I'm speaking of the news about SG-1 being cancelled. Cancelled.
I know ratings haven't been the best lately but the thought that they would actually cancel the show now just hasn't occurred to me. I had actually been semi-prepared for the ending of the series at the end of season 8 (which I would have been ok with because I loved the 3 final eps of s8) and then it was renewed for season 9 and from that point on it just seemed like SG-1 would always be there. I expected it to go on at least for another year or two, but I guess it's finally come to an end.
SG-1 has had 10 wonderful years and perhaps it is time to let it rest and focus on SGA (and other prospects mentioned in the article) but it still comes with a bit of sadness that the show that I loved for so long has finally come to an end.
Edit: The confirmation from Sci-Fi that it will not be renewing SG-1 and a bit more about it all here. Meh.
