Bones, Life on Mars & X-Files

Oh, how I've missed this show :D It was good even if I did figure out the killer/ending pretty quickly. Though the part that sticks out to me like a sore thumb was during the ceramics "date" (which was pretty funny btw) but it was Sweet's girlfriend' comment about him "killing a thousand people" and he quickly retorting "in a video game". This of course feeds one of my ideas that Sweets either is/or is an apprentice of Gormogon. I've got a couple running theories about Gormogon is but I shall say no more for right now.

Funny lines that cracked me up: "serious as a gas attack" (hey those can be serious sometimes too you know!) and Brennan saying "bowling rink" instead of 'alley' lol.

So, I've started watching Life on Mars after learning of it while reading something about John Simm awhile back. It looked interesting enough and since I've developed an odd fascination with the BBC I dl'ed the first season. I also had read that they're re-making an American version of the show with Colm Meaney in it so I was curious about the original before the re-make is supposed to air which I believe is in August though it may have been changed because of the writer's strike.

It's not bad, I'm enjoying it so far and will probably watch all the episodes. There are only 16 total as it only ran 2 seasons, which I find kind of odd because I thought it had good ratings and such. There's also a spin-off/sequel show to it called Ashes to Ashes which I might watch if I end up liking it well enough.

Snagged this from [livejournal.com profile] rithmah thanks again, I steal the info as I would an icon ;) Anyway, apparently Chris Carter has released the name of it as The X-Files: I Want to Believe. Alright, I'm really not that impressed with the title but I'm still uber excited about it! Actually, I was surprised at the name because I've always associated the phrase "I Want to Believe" with aliens and supposedly this is a MOTW themed movie. That doesn't mean the monster can't be of alien origin I suppose. *shrugs*

Oh, didn't know LoM and AtA were related. I haven't seen either, and I do know the gist of Mars, but I haven't had any feeling to actually check it out. Good ratings or not, they may of only planned to run for a couple series and be done, or maybe Simms didn't want to do it for very long, who knows, things don't always work like they do here in the states. Meaney huh, interesting.

I could see that on a bigfoot poster, but yeah, I'm not either. Honestly though, perhaps it's just me, I don't know what kind of title binded with X-Files would ever have me impressed. I liked Fight the Future better, but even that I'm not impressed by.

It's not bad so far, kind of police drama mixed with sorta sci-fi and you really don't know what's actually going on with him so it's fairly interesting. And yep, Colm Meaney, which I think is really cool because I'd like to see him again in a show :D

Well, I don't know either really but I think I would have liked something a little more original than "the truth is out there" lol. I liked FTF as a title, it was fitting and worked for me.

yeah :) uhuh

Indeed, and yeah it did fit & worked for me, but I still don't find it great or anything.

Ahahaa Bones made me and Scott lol. I also liked the "gas attack" and "bowling rink" comments. Brennan is so funny - she takes everything so literally and has limited knowledge of popular culture. I've missed that show, too.

I think it's funny to entertain the idea that Sweets is Gormogon, and I'd laugh my ass off if that was really the case. Whenever his girlfriend brought up that killing thing, I thought of WoW or Halo 3 or something, lol. Now that you mention it... ;)

lol yeah actually I was waiting for the name of the video game to be WoW or something which of course would have amused me ;P

Ohhh. We should d/l Life On Mars!! I do want to see it but we're int he middle of The Wire (which I LOVE) and the X Files, as you know. I'll tell S to d/l though coz I really do want to see it. Re it running only 2 seasons, it's usual for a British show. I do believe it was only planned to run for a finite number of episodes.

I'm with you, I think the title to the XF movie is kinda meh and uninspiring. But then I know Chris Carter wanted something else that the studio didn't like - so it's a compromise of sorts. Pity you can tell x_x

ahhh The Wire, the HBO show yes? I've not watched it but have heard of it. I guess it just seems odd only having 2 seasons because I'm used to most shows running like 5-7 :P

Yeah, I can imagine CC wanting something different but having to concede, it does make sense. I wonder what it would have been...

Yes, the HBO show - with all teh drugs and teh sex ;p (but not really). I just lurrrve the grittiness of it :D It's intricate too, which I also <33 Yeah, 2 seasons of like, 8 episodes each must be quite the shock to you guys lol! I know it irks me!

Indeed. Hopefully he'll mention the original title in an interview :)
