I was alright with how she came about, I was afraid they wouldn't tell and I'd really rather have known. I sort of figured a clone too but in a way I'm glad they didn't do a clone because we've had so many clone related things lately.
I'm still leaning on it being the terra forming process though I'm throwing out the possibility that she could regenerate if need be. Like you said, I think it's like that mostly so they could have her back in the future and with the same actress. As for as the Doctor being part human, I'm not sure about any of that. I know he says it in the TV movie but everything else I've read says that's the first time it's ever mentioned that he's part human and most people don't consider it canon. I don't know, I don't know if it really even matters all that much but I guess it's something that might be worthy of a follow-up story later on or something :P
