stargaterI should probably start off by apologizing to my FL simply because I'm obsessing this finale like there's no tomorrow and this is probably pretty much what I'm going to be talking about until it's over. Probably for a bit afterward too but then I'll likely return to my regularly scheduled ramblings ;)
I've grown rather fond of the two doctors theory since I first learned of it and especially so within the past week. And even more especially if one of the Doctors go off with Rose. I really want this to happen now, out of all the possibilities and theories that exist, this is the one I'm really hoping for.
So, I was thinking, the Doctor regenerates and splits into two: original!Doctor and hand!Doctor. Now originally when I had thought about this theory I thought well, if one leaves with Rose, which of the two would it be? I had thought that it'd probably be hand!Doctor because I didn't really think original!Doctor would do something like that but now after watching TSE, I think he would. And I want it to be original!Doctor that goes with her.
But then I thought... would they really do that? Split the Doctor in two, have the original one go off to a parallel world and leave the newly regenerated one in our world to carry on? At one time I would have said no, they'd never do that but I've also recently changed my mind about that and decided that it's exactly something RTD might do. And I kind of think it's brilliant. But he's still evil.
By doing this it would allow the Doctor to start off sort of fresh for series 5. The hand!Doctor might not be quite as tainted by all the terrible things that's happened in the past couple years (ie: the loss of Rose the first time, the Master etc...) though I'd definitely want hand!Doctor to have memory of all those things. But it would allow for them to change up the character a bit, he could go back to being like happy!fun!Doctor we had in series 2 or change into something new. The possibilities are endless really for what they could do with it.
I decided after that scene in TSE, that it'd be pretty heartbreaking to not have original!Doctor go with her. Though I would be happy either way, as long as one of them goes with her, but I now definitely want it to be original!Doctor.
I keep thinking about when the Dalek beam hit him and how it only appeared to affect the part of him that was hit. So, if he regenerates and whatever wonky thing is going to happen happens and hand!Doctor is created, for him to be the one left behind he'd have to be a full Time Lord right? Does that mean original!Doctor loses something of himself in the process or will they both be full Time Lords? I'm not against one of them being part human but I kind of want them both to be full Time Lords.
hmmm. So many questions and so few answers. I need to see this like yesterday.
