stargater: (dw ten holy crap)
[personal profile] stargater

Right. So I haven't a clue where to start with this. I once thought that TSE/JE was DW on crack, well I take that back, TEoT is DW on crack - the biggest bunch of crackiest crack that one can find. Holey Moley.

For lack of my ability to form coherent sentences about this, I'll bullet point the important bits ten ramble on about the rest.

- Poor Ten. Even when he was being funny I could barely laugh because it just makes me sad thinking before long he will be no more. David is such a fantastic actor and good grief the script made him cry when he read it, what's it going to do to us? :(
- Hello Elder Ood. But eww @ the thought of holding their brain hand. Eww.
- He is returning... the Master? They are returning... the Time Lords? But what is "it" because "it" is returning too. Hmmm.
- So, the Master had some sort of cult in waiting to resurrect him but it went a little wonky (thanks Lucy) and he came back blonde and crazier than ever. I have to admit, a blonde, crazy John Simm is quite delicious.
- WILF! I just <3 Wilf. But who's the mysterious woman whom only he can see? I know what the spoilers have said... but I just don't know yet.
- Minnie the Menace. LMAO. And June Whitfield was hilarious in the Confidential when she talked about how many times she got to grab David's bum. Hahahaha.
- I teared up for the first time when the Doctor was talking to Wilf in the cafe and tells him about his fear of dying and regenerating because he feels like he dies then too. That entire cafe scene. OOOOH TEN :((
- DONNAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Oh, Donna. I have a bad feeling about you.
- So, they've gotten themselves an Star Immortality Gate. Interesting.
- The Master race. Oh, man. Rusty you have outdone yourself this time. The entire population of Earth turned into the Master. I actually happened to love this, it was just so cracky and ridiculous. And alllll the costume changes John Simm had to go through including all the woman's dresses, it just cracks me up. I also loved the spinning head effect.
- I teared up again and actually yelped when Donna started to remember. I'm guessing that she's not affected because she was the DoctorDonna? Dooooonnnnnnaaaaa.
- HOLY CRAP TIME LORDS. Timothy Dalton as a Time Lord gives me goosebumps. He's so bad ass. I loved the narration and the end bit with them all in what appears to be the Citadel.

The last couple minutes with the Time Lords made my chest hurt in that 'remember to breathe' sort of way. This is definitely the key. So, have they really returned? Are they a figment in someone's mind? Are they going to stick around or go away again? Right, soooooo... what if the drumming the Master's always hearing is actually them? What if they're somehow hidden within him? That'd be the perfect place to hide, the Master made himself human to escape the Time War, some of the Time Lords could have followed suit not only hiding, but hiding in the one place they might never be discovered... inside the Master's head. That's his greater role in the events that are playing out, he's going to bring back the Time Lords. He hears them (like it was said in the preview for part 2, the rhythm of 4 - the heartbeat of a Time Lord) but doesn't know what it is and it's driving him completely bonkers. This would explain why the Doctor could never sense them and the Doctor now admits that there's certainly something inside the Master's head but can't fathom what it is either. I guess if you had a bunch of vengeful Time Lords lying in wait in your brain, you'd probably be driven a bit mad too. But why would they want to bring about the end of time? That'd go against their 'no interference' policy for sure unless they too are mad perhaps from being inside the Master's head? Maybe the Master isn't the villain in this at all, maybe it's Timothy Dalton's band of Time Lords? Maybe the Master and Doctor team up to stop them? Craziness.

And something is definitely up with Wilf. Major clues that he's something more than we think:
- He remembers the nightmares when everyone else forgot.
- He's able to find the Doctor pretty much whenever he wants. It took Jack hundreds of years to do it and Wilf manages it in just a couple hours with the geriatric bus crew? Mmhmm.
- The Doctor feels drawn to Wilf as if he's some sort of kindred spirit almost and they keep crossing paths much like he and Donna did.
- He can see the mysterious woman. And she tells him that the war has been won and passed him by.
- He's fascinated by and always looking to the stars.
- He's got the DoctorDonna for a granddaughter.

So, what if Wilf's a fob-watched Time Lord too? It'd make sense for all the above reasons but then what's his role in all this? I fear two things for Wilf, he's the one that either causes the Doctor's death or he sacrifices himself to save the Doctor from death. I also fear this could be Donna's role as well, I really have a bad feeling about her fate. Perhaps the Time Lords force the Doctor's regeneration again or worse his permanent death? Or he sacrifices himself for one of the others but is resurrected and regenerates after being put in the Star Immortality Gate? Perhaps he sacrifices himself for the entire human race? I could certainly see the Doctor doing this for sure. What if he's running low on regeneration energy (because of the way he used it in JE) or can't regenerate properly for whatever else reason and one of the others , oh say... the DoctorDonna or a fobby Time Lord, sacrifices themselves for him so he can regenerate? I still don't put it past RTD to write the Doctor's death. To many what-ifs, so many possibilities. I better stop now, I could do this all day long.

There's a bit of a preview for part 2 at the end of the Confidential which we can see someone holding Wilf's revolver getting ready to shoot it and poor Ten's face! What happened to his face?! *cries* He obviously gets beat up pretty bad from something before the regeneration happens. Oh, geez. You know, part 1 wasn't really that bad but I think I feel that way because we didn't see the Doctor left in peril at the end TO BE FRAKKIN' CONTINUED like we did in TSE. We know it's coming but the how and why are still left up in the air so it doesn't feel like it's happened yet, like clinging to the last desperate bit of denial. And it's going to be absolutely heartbreaking. I even teared up watching the Confidential because of knowing what's to come. No amount of tissues or fanfic therapy is going to cure this anytime soon. Sigh. I just want to huggles Ten and keep him safe forever in a pocket that's bigger on the inside.

I'm going to watch it again as it airs on BBCA tonight. Yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment like that.
