BSG: Sometimes a Great Notion

WOAH. Geez, I've missed this show for this very reason. I was on the edge of woah!wtf throughout it but it was great. It was agonizingly difficult to see everyone (especially those who are always a tower of strength) so broken but also rightly so because if they'd all been 'no biggy, we'll just go on and fight more and find someplace else' that would have cheapened everything they've endured together and made it seem unrealistic. But I think in the end, that is exactly what they'll do.
I found this rather interesting but I googled the title of the episode because it sounded familiar to me and as it turns out, it's the title of a book by Ken Kesey which deals with a logging family who refuses to give into a Union strike and not only keeps working but supplies the mill that would have otherwise suffered.
Anyway, back to the show, I loved all the little tidbits of information we got about things. I think there are a few more questions now but I'm certain the answers will be very interesting and I can't wait for more!
Random things:
Starbuck - Yes, I think that was her in the Viper found on Earth. I'd actually been thinking about that for sometime and while I never thought her to be the final Cylon, I have always entertained the idea that she's a hybrid, part cylon/part human. Which might explain why she seemingly made her way back in a new Viper. And if this is true, who is her Cylon parent? I've been thinking Leoben but that maybe he doesn't know that, he may feel a connection to her but didn't realize it until he saw her body in the crashed Viper. His reaction to that, the backing away and the shocked expression really interests me, especially after she repeated what the Hybrid told her about being the harbinger of death and leading humanity to it's end.
Dee - Well, that was really unexpected. I've never been a big Dee fan but I never thought that would have happened. Of course in hindsight, she's enough of an established character to make an impact but enough of a redshirt to be offed for the effect.
Bill/Laura - Their reactions are appropriate (even if agonizing) as they would blame themselves for what they feel is a failure for what remains of the human race. That'd be quite a burden to bear. I think Laura's reaction echoes the way the entire fleet feels about the situation. The scene between Bill & Tigh was perfect and gave Bill what he needed to be able to stand again and start to rally the troops. I'm sure Laura won't be far behind once she realizes they have to keep going. What I find most interesting about her right now is that she's refusing her treatments (and it looks like she was throwing away meds in the preview for next week) but I still think there's something special about her and that maybe the treatments/meds are repressing whatever it is.
Earth - Hoo, boy! I loved the visions that the Five had of their previous lives on Earth. So,
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
I have this idea stuck in my head now that the nukes that Tyrol and Tigh remember might have actually been sent by humans from the colonies 2000 years ago or maybe the warped Cylons who want to destroy them both. The war ensued from there and like it was said before, it has happened before and it'll happen again. My thoughts on this are still a bit disjointed right now but I think we'll be surprised finding out the fate of those from Earth. And I also think the ending will be just the beginning, you know as it happens all over again.
Ellen - The fifth Cylon is revealed! I certainly didn't expect it to be Ellen, especially now that she's (supposedly) gone. I don't think we've seen the last of her though, she'll be back. The only thing I don't get is if she is the final Cylon then why did D'anna have such a reaction to her when she saw all five of them in the temple? Did I miss something between them? I'm not 100% convinced she is the final Cylon just yet. But if she is and the others have been 'reborn' does that mean they had a resurrection ship or something like it nearby?
I also can't help but wonder if everyone on Earth was 'reborn' after the attacks, maybe they resurrected and went somewhere else where they live now like before but that a few of them were maybe lost and weren't able to find the others. Or like part of my happy!human/Cylon theory, maybe they were sent out by the others to make contact with the colonies again. Maybe to help make sure that what has happened before doesn't happen again.
Other random things:
- I loved somberness of the the wasteland on Earth compared to Galactica.
- Totally loved the music, Bear McCreary is truly a genius I think.
I think that's about it for now. Worth the wait? Definitely.
Oh, and I guess We're all Cylons then! lol.
