I'm sure my thoughts are not as collected as I'd like them to be but I want to just jot down a few things before I forget and not do it.

The Circle & the Collaborators - It's understandable the need to blame someone(s) for all that had occurred in the past year but how does even more people killing fix anything? There can't be all that many humans left by now anyway, what's the point of killing more? I like how Roslin handled it and how she stood her ground with her decision at the end. Bah Zarek and to think I just started believing he might have changed. I don't like the rift between Kara & Sam, though I can't say I didn't see it coming if even a little bit after all that she's been though, but still I don't like it and want it fixed.

And go ahead with your jump rope Lee... hop hop!

LOL ... Adama's "keep jumping" line made be bust out laughing! I forgot that this should could make me laugh!

The Collaborators/The Circle : your frustrations is based on rational observations but if you placed yourself in their shoes you'd be more than "needing to blame someone" .... you'd have every atom in your body shaking for vengeance and that level of emotion isn't replaced by rational thought easily. Nah, I believe what happened to those characters is totally realistic for those particular circumstances. As Kara said to Sam ... it doesn't matter whom, but she needs to hurt SOMEONE ... and so does everybody else who suffered on the surface of New Caprica. This rift will take a long time to heal!

Roslin's method of handling this situation is actually based on what really happened in S.Africa (I think). When the Brits were leaving and apartheid was being "repealed" ... the govn't did the same thing ... people who did horrid things admitted them during a special hearing but there were no prosecutions . There was a movie based on it a while back.

Oh I agree it's realistic from that stance but so is standing back, taking a breath and saying "what are we doing here" and coming to the realization that there are better options. Sam and Tyrol were already struggling with it and I think in time most of the others will change their views though for some it will probably be a long and difficult road to this change. Like you said it will definately will take some time to heal.

hmm I think I saw a movie about that but it's been a couple years ago. I can't remember whats it's called now though.

I'm an iTunes watcher, so I'm behind.

Did they ever explain how Zaren became interim president? I know sometimes they like to fast forward and leave things implied.

Zarek was chosen as a representive from Sagittarius and was running for VP. Roslin didn't want him as VP so they set up Baltar as their rep and Baltar won. Later when Baltar ran against Roslin for presidency the election was fixed so that she would win but were found out and they conceded letting Baltar take the presidency. Which is why Zarek jokes to Roslin in the beginning of season 3 that they should have let the election be fixed so they wouldn't be in the situation they were all in. heh

Right, right. But why was he president in Collaborators?? They get off the planet, President Baltar is gone so ... Zarek became president? And then when Roslin was doing her inaugural speech, she said, "Thank you for entrusting me with this office." I'm like ... you became president b/c Zarek resigned. No one voted for you!!

Sorry, I'm a government nerd, so I'm just wondering how everything is working post-occupation. How are they rebuilding their government? Thru resigning??

And another thing (sorry), doesn't Cmdr Adama outrank the XO now?? What's his position on the ship?

Get things to make sense!! Heehee.

ooooh sorry I wasn't thinking I guess. Zarek was Baltar's VP so in his absence (Baltar was left on the planet and then was on the Cylon ship) he took over as president. He didn't have enough military support so he ceded his presidency to Roslin if she agreed to give him VP. They made arrangements to do this in a few days but before it all happened, Zarek authorized the secrect tribunal circle to execute collaborators.

So that's how she got her presidency back, there were no votes. I'm not really sure what they are going to do to rebuild their government but Roslin is definitely back to leading it now.

And Adama became an Admiral after Cain (Adm. from Pegasus) was killed.

I hope I explained it ok, sometimes I tend to ramble on lol :P

Heehee ... okay, I meant Apollo when I said Cmdr Adama. Now that he doesn't have a ship anymore, doesn't he outrank the XO? Shouldn't, technically, he be the XO now? I'm also a military nerd with rank! (Don't get me started on my DS9 and Voyager rants about how there is no discipline in Starfleet anymore). Is he just in charge of lost and found now (heh, missing persons)???

And I didn't remember that Zarek was VP. Thanks! Makes sense now.

Though ... I don't know why the Admiral keeps the XO around. I know, I know, they have history. But he's proved his incompetence more than once, I think. I don't know.

lol sorry my mind is in a million different places today, I feel like such an goob lol.

Well I guess Lee would outrank Tigh now since he's a Cmdr and Tigh is still a Colonel. I don't know how they are going to explain it and I suspect it will be interesting. Though I wonder if Lee being XO with his dad might be one of those "conflict of interest" sort of things.

lol no discipline in Starfleet. Can't comment much on VOY because I never really got into it all that much, but one of the reasons DS9 was great because it stretched out there and was different from it's predecessors. Even if Starfleet was a bit more lax hee
