For some reason my DVR listed the episode title as "Mentor" bawahaha
I actually liked the episode a lot more than I had thought I would and found it quite enjoyable. Teal'c and Ronon pretty much rocked. I especially liked it when Ronon said "indeed" to Teal'c :D It was amusing at first because they were all staring at each other like Beta fish in bowls lol. I was quite pleased to see Teal'c again even though for awhile I kept having to tell myself not to look at his hair. And Dr. Lee! When the Wraith asked him who enabled the security lockout I thought for sure he was gonna be killed and thankfully he wasn't because that would have ruined the episode for me. So Kavanagh got Midway duty hahaha serves him right. Too bad he wasn't the one Wraithed pffft. The Wraith stunner ball was pretty cool and seemed quite effective. The new IOA guy annoys me. McKay amused me but McKay usually amuses me at least once an episode. Sleepy!Shep was so darned cute! *squishes him* Too bad Midway was destroyed, it was a pretty cool station. While I was sitting here pondering that, I've come to think that the SGC has a worse record for blowing up their own stuff than DS9 had for losing runabouts :P I think that's about it and overall not a bad episode at all. Indeed. ;)

Date: 2008-02-17 04:01 pm (UTC)Some of the stuff in this ep was as subtle as a sledgehammer. RONON IS LIKE ATLANTIS' TEAL'C! LOOK! They're side by side now! Look how similar they are!
At least they didn't do this episode when Ronon was first introduced.
The whole thing just reinforces my belief that they took the SG-1 dynamic, shoved it in a new galaxy, built a plastic set, painted everything blue-green, spruced it up with better sfx and went 'tada! brand new show!'
Even the wraith stunner ball has a SG-1 equivalent :P
That said, 'original' doesn't really equate to 'good tv'. Nor is it much of a requirement. I liked it, if only for the reason that the dumbass midway station got blown up.
God, T's hair was awful but. Ugh.

I've felt they've been re-inventing the wheel most the time with Atlantis, so many stories are so obviously a re-take on something SG-1 did but a lot of shows with spin-offs fall victim to that. I try not to be too critical of it.
Poor T, his hair makes me sad.
