I really liked it! A nice start for the new season, the episode was light and fun and rather amusing. Poor sad Doctor though, but it balanced well with quirky Doctor. And I quite liked Donna. The first time I watched The Runaway Bride I wasn't that impressed with her but that was probably because I was still suffering after Doomsday but the second time I watched it I liked her a lot more and possibly even a little bit more now. I think she'll be a good (and funny) companion for the Doctor.

It was amusing how they kept missing running into each other so closely at the beginning and their conversation through the windows in the Adipose building had me laughing so hard. And when the Doctor fell through the window hahaha! And awwww the Adipose were so cute! (The fat just walks away... literally hahaha) See, aren't the cute? I want one.

I liked Donna's Granddad, he was really cool and I liked their scenes together. It amused me when he was looking away (this episode was chock full of irony) when the Adipose ship was right behind him lol. But it was really cool that they flew the TARDIS where he could see and waved to him.

The Adipose employee tied to the chair (and running out of the building still tied to the chair) made me laugh but really she reminded me of Martha's sister Tish. At first I even thought it might have been the same actress playing this part but it wasn't.

Okay... wait for it... zomg Rose! This is going to plague me all season long I know it. I wonder if she even knew Donna was there when Donna was talking to her. It kind of seemed like she was looking at something else (obviously not the action going on because her back was to it) and she seemed so sad. I've begun thinking that maybe both universes are colliding/merging for some reason (of course she would know about it and be investigating it and all) but perhaps they only bleed over/phase-shift at certain times which is why she faded away.

That's quite the hefty teaser to throw into the mix in the very first episode. I wonder if there will be any more of these "bleed overs" throughout the season leading up the the final episodes. If so, they've done a really good job keeping that quiet because I had no clue about this appearance. And I just want a real reunion dammit!

David Tennant was fantastic and so many great facial expressions just begging to be iconed... ;) I also don't know if I mentioned it when I first watched Voyage of the Damned but I like the new theme music.

Some funny lines:
"And you've got the same suit! Don't you ever change?"
"You've got a hatbox?"
And the ever amusing "I just want a mate"/"to mate" "you're just a long streak of nothing" lol. I wonder if that all was actually scripted or not. DT & CT are quite amusing together.

So, next week: Pompeii. Woooot!

And now I'm going to go burn this to DVD so I can watch it on the TV ;)

My favorite scene was probably When The Doctor was talking to himself in The TARDIS.

Humorous Donna still kinda annoyed me, but I more preferred it this time rather than immediately after Doomsday.

The near misses got a little tiresome, but I liked the idea. That was really it, I liked what occured, but some of it just happened too long/too many times.

Indeed, the Adipose were cute hehe. :p I noticed some or at least one person complaining that they seemed incomplete effects-wise, but I thought they looked fine, and the interaction with stuff was good too.

Yeah :) will never see him again though. :/ During the show credits there was a dedication & it turned out to be him. He died last September if I'm remembering correctly.

She was a reporter ;) she was at the press conference or whatever, and The Doctor said to her at one point, when she was asking what was going on, "Your a reporter, make it up." :)

I didn't like how Billie looked, her hair or something. That's all I've got to say xP

That would be cool, keeping with the tradition of having something occuring in the background, followed with it coming to the foreground towards the end. :) Of course it was way more foreground than before this time. :P

David's always brilliant ^_^ yeah, I got a mp3 of it not long ago; before seeing the premiere. I think it's a worthy version. :)

Heh yeah, the suit line was good.

It's by Stephen Moffat, SO IT'S GOTTA BE GOOD! As I was watching though, I kept thinking about The Romans. Might be too much to expect any reference, but hoping is still my right to do. :) I also thought about how Jack mentioned it in The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, which Moffat also wrote of course.

p.s. do you think they'll at some point sell Foster's sonic pen?

The Adipose did look I dunno a bit fuzzy perhaps? Still, I thought they looked fine. I could see them selling like hotcakes as a plushie or something :P

I like the idea of Rose fading in/out being the reoccurring thing, especially if it's the big thing going on in the end.

Now that I've went back and read lots of reactions/reviews of it, it seems to me that people either loved it or hated it. Same goes for Rose returning, either you're all for it or vehemently against it. And I kind of wonder why. I suppose I'm partial to Rose since she was my first companion and she's a likable character. I'd probably feel the same way about the Ninth Doctor if David Tennant hadn't been the one to be Ten. Still being fairly new to the series, I can't really compare it classic Who because I like the new ones so much more. There definitely is a difference between the two and I guess if you love the classic eps so much, perhaps you wouldn't be so fond of what they're doing now. It probably wouldn't be so different to how I feel about Stargate. Anyway, I really haven't been disappointed with anything yet, sure there are things I could do without and such but overall I'm quite pleased with the new series.

Also, why do people seem to dislike RTD and his episodes so much? Most of my favorite episodes were by him. And oh yes, I really like Stephen Moffat's stories too (except perhaps Girl in the Fireplace) and I'm sure it'll be good too. Though I thought I remembered seeing the writer for this episode was a James Moran, I'd never heard of him before. It even says that on wikipedia. Is it wrong?

I don't see why they wouldn't sell a sonic pen, I'm sure people would buy it. I wasn't all that impressed with it though, I'd still rather have a sonic screwdriver ;P Do they sell Sarah Jane's sonic lipstick? lol

Edited because I realized that I forgot to comment on the guy who played Donna's granddad. That's sad, I would have liked to see him again. I must have missed the dedication, I don't usually make a habit of reading the credits but they went by so fast this time, I'm guessing they want to cut time or something.

Well I can't really say why people don't like Rose, but I think some might be against the return because of Doomsday being I think a good send-off, the return could take away from that, and the return being so soon maybe.

I think it's usually like the love drama aspect & I believe puts The Doctor more into the view of being Godly, which people seem to be annoyed by, including myself a bit. I don't care what you say, A Girl in the Fireplace was great! ;) No no, your right, I guess I just made an assumption. xP

It would be weird having two pens on the market, but I suppose it could be more mature than the screwdriver. Oh yeah, me too; it's cool to have. :) Indeed they do! That's how I knew she had it before watching the show. :p

Yeah & I think there may of been more than the previous series', but I'm probably/could be wrong.

p.s. I'm sure there are other reasons why people dislike RTD, I just can't say.

oh no, I completely understand that. I was very apprehensive of her return when I first heard of it because Doomsday really was a good send-off and a powerful episode. I worried a return might cheapen that and I really don't want to see that happen. Though, they're going to do it anyway so I might as well hope that it's good and I am looking forward to hopefully a real reunion between her and the Doctor.

And I get that as well, it does tend to be quite an angsty show at times but angst runs rampant in just about all TV shows anymore. Not that it's a bad thing if done properly in the right amount. I like the idea of Donna just being a "friend" instead of the Doctor falling for her or vice versa. And I agree about being seen more godly which annoys me a bit at times as well. Then I guess I think of everything that's happened leading into the new series: here you have the Time Lords, which are very powerful beings and the Doctor (at least as much as he knows) is the last of them (not counting the Master) after this horrific Time War where he pretty much blames himself for the destruction of his people. That'd have a fundamental effect on him and all these other things happening out there, he feels it's his responsibility to stop or fix. I can see by doing just that it would paint him in that light and he might even get carried away a time or two (like with the Racnoss or The Family) which is why like Donna said in The Runaway Bride he needs someone there with him to keep him in check. It's just the way I see it. *shrugs*

Hey, I don't hate The Girl in the Fireplace, I just don't care for it as much. There are parts of it I like, but no, it'll never be one of my favorites. It's all yours, you can have it ;P

If they made a sonic pen that could be used as a real pen and then light up the other end all sonicy, I'd want one :P lol @ the sonic lipstick, that just amuses me. SJA starts next week btw on Sci-Fi, I never bothered dl-ing it so I'm planning on watching it as it airs. :P

Yeah that's kinda my feeling, just hope that it'll be worth it. :)

I think that's part of it, people don't think it's done properly, idk. Yeah I hope love won't pop back in, it'd be nice to have a change; I didn't really have issues with it in the other Series, but something new would be nice to see.

I agree, from the get go he is sort of godly, but people like were annoyed with like the imagery of the angels like lifting The Doctor up in VotD, which I too kinda felt, then the slow-motion, but then to, like me, with what occured at the end of The Last of the Time Lords. I agree he can get out of control, and does need somebody at his side. :)

alright :P

Well my screwdriver's a real pen, though I've yet to use it; don't plan to, but it might be less embarrassing to use Foster's sonic pen lol. hehe. :p Part of why I didn't keep watching was because I couldn't find all the episodes at the time.

Yeah, that bit in VOTD was a bit excessive. Though I have put some thought into that scene from LOTTL. There's actually a theory out there that if enough people concentrated on one specific thing that their combined cognitive power alone could make it happen. It's an interesting (albeit strange) read if you ever want to read about it and yes it's quantum and controversial but has been the topic of several things even recently. They've done studies, the only one that comes to mind right now was in the 90's they did one in Washington DC and had a large group of people mediate and concentrate on lowering crime every day at a certain time and the result would be at the end of the experiment, crime rates would have dropped. The DC police were sort of part of it because they are the ones to report the numbers. And at the end of the allotted period, they said the crime rate actually had decreased. I dunno, it's all a bunch of transcendental malarky. This came to mind actually while I was watching LOTTL and helped to take away from that whole godly effect. Don't have anything for VOTD though :P

lol, I so would use that even more if the SS was a pen :P This of course comes from someone who eats with light up lightsaber spoons :P

Bloody hell, made another mistake. It wasn't the grandfather, it was the actor who played Donna's dad in The Runaway Bride. What I read did say his dad, but also said they were in Series 4, so I thought maybe they made a mistake. I'm watching Doctor Who: Confidential, which is a first for me to watch the non-cutdown versions; I think I'll continue to do so, and they were just now showing him doing the Grandfather's lines for PiC in the read-through. Must of I guess died before filming or something, so they decided come up with the grandfather.

ahhh her dad from The Runaway Bride, I guess that would make sense why they did the granddad scenes. That's still sad though. So maybe we will see her granddad again though I kind of doubt it. I'm sort of interested in this Confidential even though I haven't finished watching all the ones from 1-3 yet :P

It's possible, we saw Rose & Martha's family more than once. :)

Never saw the Series 3 ones, since I don't have the dvds, but I have watched all of Series 1 & 2. Series 1 when I got the set from the library; ah the very beginning of all this :) , and then Series 2 when I got both for Christmas; I chose not to watch them when I got that set from the library as well. I at some point I was kinda convinced I wasn't missing out on anything, but if that first Confidential ep is edited down to the short version length, which it certainly will, I'd feel you'd be kinda missing out. :/

Indeed. :)

I've watched a couple from both season 1 and 2, I mean to watch all the special stuff in order but ended up picking and choosing through a couple of them. I'll get to them all eventually. Strange as it may seem, I'm not huge into watching stuff like that for shows, even my most favorites. I do of course but it's not like if I don't watch it I'll die or anything, I view them at my leisure. *shrugs*

Just one of my habits, always got to watch them if they're on the dvd & such, sometimes even if I didn't care for what the main thing was. As for commentaries, I at times not bother with them, but usually just if I didn't like the movie or whatever, but again I still do sometimes listen anyways. xP

I have to really be in the right mood for a commentary, I rarely ever watch them. Which is also unusual because I enjoy knowing all the little behind-the-scenes tidbits. Oh one thing if available that I absolutely love is outtakes. They're never enough of those out there, especially when its a show that you know there are tons of funny stuff just waiting to be seen :P

The only thing that ever really effects me is just those who are speaking; some people seem to just not be cut out for it. Totally, outtakes/bloopers, though some can be lame. :/
