Atlantis caught a virus. Guess they should have kept their Norton subscription updated eh? Of course the virus being Repli-Weir now disembodied and taking up residence in Atlantis' computer system. Rodney works his magic which allows them to speak with her and shortly after she creates a Replicator body for herself in the form of Fran (Rodney's Replicator) because it was the quickest body that she could locate at the time. mmmhmm. (Really it was all written this way because Torri understandably declined to reprise the role) Anyway, she tells them how her group of Replicators thought they could ascend by dissolving into subspace but it didn't quite work so well and it was horrible for them and they were left to aimlessly drift about between different computers and inhabiting technology. She tells them she came to them for help (Help me Atlantis, you're my only hope...) because they are the only friends she has and says it's safe because the others couldn't track or follow her to Atlantis. But they show up suddenly and not so unexpectedly because no one really trusted that she was who she said she was. And now the others are also inhabiting the computer system and threatening to sink the city if they don't give them bodies. Then Repli-Weir-Fran-Clone talks them into letting the others return to Replicator bodies so they can eventually create and inhabit fragile human bodies so they will be restricted in what they can do yet still live on to figure out a way to ascend. However, Koracen, the Replicator scientist had different plans and tries to escape and tells Sheppard that it was Repli-Weir-Fran-Clone's plan all along to bring the others to Atlantis to get new bodies. Koracen attacks Sheppard and Repli-Weir-Fran-Clone destroys him before telling Sheppard that she has an idea of what should be done next to make up for what she's done. They dial the gate to a planet where they tell the Replicators that they will be allowed to continue working on their ascension, the others are apprehensive so Repli-Weir-Fran-Clone goes first and sends back thoughts that it's safe for them to follow. They do and end up floating in the dead of space as they had actually dialed a space-gate. There had been discussion on whether or not the Repli-Weir-Fran-Clone was the real Weir or not and the last bit of conversation was stating that there should no longer be any doubt whether that was really Elizabeth or not.

Also present in the episode: some not!Elizabeth/John angst and a picture of Woolsey's beloved Yorkie in his office.

This episode actually made me sad for Atlantis. Mostly because Weir was one of my favorite characters and I dislike that even after Torri's decision to not return, they are still using the character as nothing more than a plot device and a poor one at that. Just let the character go with what little dignity it might have left and leave it be. It also annoys me thinking of everything the character of Weir has had to endure over the past year, really, couldn't they have just let her die in peace? Not drug it out for dramatic sake only to end up with this hollow shell of a Replicator/Clone/Subspace particle/Who knows what else to be brought back for crappy cameos? It irks me.

Next week: The Shrine
Rodney is stricken with some illness that makes him revert into a child-like state. Really, how much more child-like can he get at times eh? lol but you know I do ♥ Rodney so. And, Kate Hewlett returns as Jeannie! Yay! I'm actually looking forward to this one :D

Yeah... Poor Lizzie! I miss her deeply but it's just like if Moffat brought back Rose. Such a waste!
And also, no Keller. If I remember well, she helped Mackay to create Fran, right?

Well, I just wish they'd leave the character alone now. Especially since Torri isn't returning to the series, I would rather they not keep using Weir the way they are and move onto new story lines. And, I don't even think Keller was in the episode where Rodney created Fran, I could be wrong, I don't remember it all that well really.

As for Moffat & Rose, I'm glad he won't be able to bring her back and that she's safely tucked away in the parallel world. He's not exactly the biggest Rose fan and I'd hate to see what he might do if he were to ever have her return. But yeah, thankfully she's locked away in the parallel world where she won't be bothered :P

Thanks for sparing me watching this episode. I'd rather continue my Dr Who watching any day than be put through a new Atlantis episode. Thanks for the review!

Yeah, and you probably would have been pretty annoyed with it. It rather irked me in many ways. But yay for your Doctor Who watching! :D

having now seen the episode - hmm it left a foul taste in my mouth for exactly the reasons you mentioned. Weir was such a brilliant character and this, ESPECIALLY considering Torri didn't want to return for it*, was such a cheap and demeaning way to worm her back in the series. They didn't give scope for any real character development in terms of dealing with the actual loss of weir, and there was no way to be comforted or warmed by the fact that it was her. It was a double edge sword of badness.

* very sad to hear the hows and whys of her decision to turn down any return. When she turned up as the replicator commander of the ship surveying the damage of the repli-home world, I thought that would be such a kick ass way to bring torri back. Sort of a 'tin man' alternate team thing (again, sadness that repli-human-clone shep/rodney etc had to be destroyed) or maybe a Ford-esque arc of 'good guy gone bad but still right intentions' sort of thing. sigh.

Am looking forward to The Shrine - I am sure i've read so many fanfic along those lines... *snicker* Sucker for Rodney eps, and I heart Kate too, so double yay!

Agreed and agreed. Even though I would have rather the entire thing with Weir have turned out differently from the get go, I was kind of excited at the prospect of her being some sort of bad ass replicator commander as well. But definitely not if it's not Torri, I really wish they would just lay the character to rest and move on now.

hehe I'm a sucker for the Rodney eps too :P I especially like it when Kate's in them so it'll be good I think. I hope :D
