I liked it better than I thought I would though I can't say I really have that much an opinion on it. I neither really like nor dislike it and I thought it felt a little rushed and squashed. And I did like Jenny (despite the superwoman acrobatics) and I wouldn't mind seeing her again at some point in the future. I liked that it was clear how she came to be though my first thought when they grabbed the Doctor and stuck his hand in the machine was why they didn't immediately do the same to Donna and Martha, especially if they needed new soldiers so bad. And this seven day war that's lasted generations, if it's only been seven days and they are going through so many soldiers, why was the leader (Cobb I think was his name) so old? Maybe he was one of the colonists before the war though I wouldn't think just seven days would make him go all victory crazy like he was.

Also, Jenny's regeneration/rebirth thingy, I'm not sure what to make of it either. I'm leaning more towards the terra forming process bringing her back to life instead of her regenerating like a Time Lord. It did sort of look like a regeneration but the terra forming stuff also looked the same. And she didn't change, she just got right up and off she went. So does that make her part Time Lord maybe? Or does she just physically resemble the Doctor (two hearts and all that) but without what might connect her as a Time Lord?

The Hath, I liked them! They were cute all bubbling at each other and stuff. I kept wanting to call one of them Admiral Ackbar and say 'there once was a Hath on Hoth...' :P I especially liked the one that Martha became friends with and I really wished he hadn't died. Maybe he didn't, they don't breath air anyway so maybe he just mucked around on the bottom and crawled out later. I really felt bad for Martha in this episode, probably more so than ever before. Out of the companions, she's kind of gotten short end of the stick I think. After everything that happened and the year that wasn't here she was once again alone (not technically because of not!dead Hath friend) left to cross the wasteland surface of the planet to get back to the Doctor and Donna.

I like clever!Donna and how she figured out the dates. I also had to chuckle when she mentioned how the dates "were backwards like in America" lol backwards ;P I also liked how Donna kept reminding the Doctor about Jenny and I really liked his talk in the cell about the Time Lords. David Tennant is just brilliant, he really is. Then of course comes the part at the end where Donna says she's going to travel with the Doctor forever and my first thought was 'NO! Great, now she's gonna die' :/ I don't want Donna to die! I've read some spoilers for the finale regarding this but I'm not treating any of it as more than just speculation.

Reoccurring things: I didn't spot any of the usual... no Rose, no ATMOS, no talk of lost planets though there was more talk of the Time War. I do remember a part with Jenny saying something about the Doctor not having a name, I can't remember the exact quote but that could be considered a name reference. And one thing that I didn't think about until this episode was the Doctor and guns. We all know the Doctor hates guns and it seems that he's mentioned or had something to do with one in nearly every episode since The Fires of Pompeii. Possibly another reoccurring theme? Damn them for all this, it really makes me over think it all.

Random things: Loved the mouse. And the bit about all the running. Phone upgrade - universal roaming! Donna and her wiles lol.

Next week: The Unicorn and the Wasp and Agatha Christie! Oh, how I do love a good mystery story. :D

LOL. I just looked back up at my post and had to chuckle after my comment of 'not having much opinion on it', apparently I did :P

"There once was a Hath on Hoth"

lol xP

I wasn't into it at first, partly because I was disappointed at first with how The Doctor came to have Jenny. When I first heard about it, I had in my mind she would be a clone, but something like Shinzon. In the end though, it was an alright episode.

Yeah, loved the Time Lord stuff, always good, as is David. :)

Yeah I suppose the terra forming could of had something to do with it. I wasn't really sure what happened. I mean, The Doctor is supposably part human isn't he, and he still regenerates regularly, but the cloning process may just of altered the regeneration "genes" in her perhaps. It could also be a cop out so they can have her back again instead of another actress as well. ;p

I was alright with how she came about, I was afraid they wouldn't tell and I'd really rather have known. I sort of figured a clone too but in a way I'm glad they didn't do a clone because we've had so many clone related things lately.

I'm still leaning on it being the terra forming process though I'm throwing out the possibility that she could regenerate if need be. Like you said, I think it's like that mostly so they could have her back in the future and with the same actress. As for as the Doctor being part human, I'm not sure about any of that. I know he says it in the TV movie but everything else I've read says that's the first time it's ever mentioned that he's part human and most people don't consider it canon. I don't know, I don't know if it really even matters all that much but I guess it's something that might be worthy of a follow-up story later on or something :P

Yeah I'm perfectly fine with a sequel to this episode & of course more about The Doctor's family.

In a way I want to know more about the Doctor's family/past but also I kind of don't because it might take away some of the mystery. Like knowing his actual name, I want to know it but I don't :P

I just want him to actually talk about his real son or daughter, so he can mention Susan at least once. It's funny, she wasn't my favorite First Doctor young girl companion, but I want a bloody mention of her in the new series. :P I guess it's because if any of his early companions were to be mentioned, she would be the most relevant & logical one.

I actually expected a reference to Susan in this episode but really I'm either way whether we get one or not. I do like references and mentions to past companions/events/people.

Yeah, I was hoping for more than just him yet again only saying he was once a father. I want to know though what happened to Susan dammit. :/

ah yeah and somehow I doubt her fate will ever be known. I think it's kind of assumed she was either killed during the Time War or perhaps she survived because she wasn't there during it and is just out there somewhere else. Still, I just don't think we'll ever know what exactly happened to her. Then again, if they answered everything, there'd be nothing left up to imagination ;P

Yeah I've followed the assumption she died in The Time War, but basically because that was the only opinion I heard from people. I would figure if she was still alive he'd of gone back to see her one last time and perhaps he did just that, but she was dead. Knowing The Doctor though even if she'd lived stayed on Earth and lived through the war, he wouldn't of stayed on Earth with her; I think he would at least try to stay, and eventually, or just from the get go, perhaps attempt to get her to leave with him again, but she wouldn't go because she had a family of her own and stuff. I know knowing everything might take something away, but it's bloody annoying at times. It also bugs me that The Doctor doesn't seem to really talk about his past unless it's relevant. Of the top of my head the only thing I feel would go against that would be like when Martha got him to talk about Gallifrey, in Gridlock, which was great. Knowing me I could be forgetting other moments, but yeah.

It would never be part of an episode, and even in a book I think it would be trimmed down or something, but I would love to see The Doctor just lay about some place, like in New Earth with Rose, and just tell his Companions stories. No action or anything, just relaxing with tales of The Doctor's past. I would even settle for lying about the TARDIS or something; especially if it included a room other than the Control Room. Another annoyance, only seeing two parts of the TARDIS in NewHu. Anyways, probably the closest to that would be The Doctor narrating a book story or something.

Anyways.

Well didn't Nine say in Father's Day that his whole family was gone? I could see her actually not making it through it more than if she's still out there somewhere because if she was I'd think (especially after the War and losing everyone) he'd go and seek her out.

Actually that about the Doctor not talking more about his past with companions bugs me too but I like to think it happens off-screen. I know I've seen little bits (with Rose and maybe Martha, not with Donna that I've noticed though) where the Doctor says something very brief (or references something) about something in his past but there's never much conversation about it so I assume they've talked about it on a previous occasion off-screen. None come specifically to mind right now though. I really did like it when Martha got him to talk about Gallifrey though, I wish there were more scenes like it.

Speaking of, I would love a nice relaxing chat like that between the Doctor and companion(s), I think it'd be nice. It'd also be nice to see other parts of the TARDIS, I've seen other rooms in classic episodes, but I'm curious as to what they look like now.

Yeah, and I know she probably is dead, but whether she died on Earth or from The War, we don't know, and I was just sorta saying hypothetically what if she was still alive, knowing The Doctor, I don't think he could of just sat still with Susan and her possible family, but I guess you never really know.

Yeah, perhaps he does sometimes, but still.

indeed :)
